SPOTLIGHT: Meet Kojo Poet, Ghana's New Poetry Messiah



To rescue the Arts Industry of Ghana, Kingsley Kojo Antwi who is literally known as"kojo Poet" was born in the early 90s to his family at Abuakwa in the Ashanti Region, he hails from Nsuta Kwameng. Bearing a common Ghanaian name, "Kojo Antwi "but through the uniqueness of his life style, he has built a fence of roses  around his name which distinguishes him from any other young Ghanaian with whom he may happen to bear the same name with.    

   Kojo poet who would have loved to pursue General art that, he is breath stealingly in love with, was not able to pursue because his father made him to pursue General science instead. Growing up in the cities of Accra, he had his Junior High education at Datus Complex school in Bubuashie a suburb of Accra and continued his Senior secondary School at Koforidua Senior Technical High school, where he pursued his  General science course, Eastern Region and completed successfully with distinctions.

   However, after fulfilling his father's dreams of pursing science and all efforts to continue the science course at the tertiary level failed, destiny found him at the University of Education Winneba,Kumasi campus studying Information Technology. Kojo poet who believes:"a change only comes to the prepared mind, when we die to be born again, when we rise above all odds  and become our own god then we can unlock tomorrow's mysterious doors"  did not for go his love for Literature and Arts  but still engaged himself in the Art life all in the name of changing its present state to a better one.

   "Smell poetry in the atmosphere of a gathering and you would find him there". He managed to combine his studies with the the love of his life "poetry" and has to his credits over 200 poems, performed spoken word on various platforms -radio, royal gathering et al, had several of his works being published on social media like facebook, blogs, online magazines and many others. Not forgetting his enviable award which was given to him by the Pentasi B poetry Association and the National Library in the Philippines in 2013, honoured  him  as "The Young African Inspirational  Poet ",Kingsley Kojo Antwi having been brought up from a humble home is a very responsible young man, industrious, determined and very down to earth.His magic words, "I believe in You" has done a great deal of good to both the elderly and youth while he served as the coordinator for the radio show poetry performance in Kumasi at Kapital radio, where the youth-focused poets were given the platform to show their dexterity in poetry on airwaves.
         
    On the brighter side of life, the young man has recently steeped himself into film making and his keen ambition is to exploit his creative abilities in his country, Ghana and world wide. Again, as a screen writer, he has a number of scripts of which he produced the talk of the town TV mini series" Abanga", he has written a script for Double D Films productions and also co- written a film "Azuleti" which was  nominated for Rode Reel awards in USA in 2014.
   
    The award winning poet, screen play writer, and entrepreneur is also the vice president of Ghana Writers Awards, C.E.O of 41 Dreams Films Production and also an interviewer at The Poets And Friends Show. Finally, he is very welcoming and accommodating, always ready to stretch out a helping hand.
