Ghanaian multiple award-winning dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale, has already taken a huge leap of 2,155 votes (per the last time we had checked) followed by Vybz Kartel with 1,507 votes in an ongoing polls conducted by www.ranker.com. (See photo below)
According to the site, the polls which is simply a “thumb-up” or “thumb-down” voting system that seeks to select “the best/greatest dancehall artiste of all time”--yes, you read right-- has almost all the big guns anyone can think of in the dancehall fraternity.
They include: Damian Marley, Sean Paul, Mavado, Vybz Kartel, Buju Banton, Beenie man, Elephant man, Mr. Vegas, Demarco, Super cat, Winky D, Shaggy, Shabba Ranks, Gyptian, Sizzla, Busy Signal and the list goes on and on to include our own Samini, and D’Banj at the bottom of the poll.
The surprise? Of all these greatest artistes that we’ve come to know of in the history of danchall, it is our very own Shatta Wale who tops them all at the moment! Still surprised???!
Well, we have no reason to doubt the credibility or otherwise of the system as it simply relies on a “yes” or “no” basis. You don’t need to be a super human in order to vote.
And the criterion for selection of artistes to be part of the polls is very simple: Just scroll to the bottom of the page and there, you will see a “box” where you can add any other name/band of a dancehall artiste you think is missing in ‘action’. That’s all there is to it, guys! It’s pure simple!
If all goes well, Shatta Wale will be crowned best dancehall artist of all time.
