Wait… Wait… Wait… Gasmilla’s Telemo is the jam of the moment. That song touches people in ways words can’t describe.
If Gasmilla has made a song for everyone everywhere to enjoy while ‘drinking’, why can’t Sarkodie do a song for everyone everywhere to enjoy while thinking.
“That’s why I wake up every morning. I grind from sun up to sun down; waking up and knowing people are expecting me to lead them to a win. It’s tough they are looking at me for the answers, hoping that I can lift them up from their fears and problems … So I grind Sunday to Monday. Because there’s no role models, there’s no true leaders left. So it’s up to me to make sure the world know that I’m that new guy, I’m that new inspiration” – lyrics from New Guy
To all music fans who feel left out in the Sark-Ace-NewGuy party; you are not alone.
But you have to understand every song is not created for everybody.
Selina Boateng didn’t create Alpha and Omega for everybody. Atongo Zimba didn’t create No Beer in Heaven for everyone. Sarkodie didn’t create New Guy for everyone.
He could have opted for a Pitbull kind of collaboration, or a Dej Loaf kind of joint or even a Drake-ish sound like PaeDae and D Black have done recently but he said CedSolo, ‘please give me the loud one’.
It happens to all of us. Most often than not, people plan events for a special group of people and because we find ourselves outside the circle, we begin to question the planner, product or people in the circle.
To all the people who don’t like this New Guy, just like 5Five Move Back and allow the people who know X.O. Senavoe to soak in this offering.
[Rappers who move me today]; “Shout out to Senavoe”. – Sarkodie on New Guy
New Guy’s premier was a cultural event. The days leading to yesterday June 10 was dramatic, intense and nail biting.
The frenzy and hype around the song brought out the Hip Hop in every single person whose ever sang or heard a note.
Almighty Kojo Antwi chimed in. One hit wonders whom we had forgotten about long ago came out of the woods to contribute to the conversation.
But I just want to humbly point out that it’s perfectly okay if you don’t like something everyone is talking about.
For your information, Telemo has been in existence since August of 2014, if it took that long to grow on you, why not give New Guy a fair hearing.
