Francis Doku reviews Sarkodie and Ace Hood's 'New Guy'

MY INITIAL THOUGHTS ON SARKODIE AND ACE HOOD'S ‪#‎NEWGUY‬:

1. Song doesn't hit you the first time you hear it. Listen a few times, like I have, and it grows on you.
2. Proper hip hop. Will go down as one of Sark's most dope hip hop tracks yet. Kindda different from what we have known him for over the years.
3. Some say Ace didn't play much role. I wonder why they say so, he did. He opened the track, handed over to Sark, then took over with and went into his main verse, Sark came back and Ace came back with Twi before rapping to end. Ace probably spat more on this song than Sark.
4. Some say it's noisy. Not sure what that means. It's hip hop and these two loud artistes. Bugatti was louder than this, Adonai was louder than this.
5. It is not a dance-able tune. It's rap, it's hip hop it's not Azonto or Alkayda.
6. Let's not talk about lyrics (thankfully no Irish Cream anywhere) though it's worth noting that Sark tried to rap bilingual and made efforts to be gangster at some points.
6. Summary: It's a good tune, the first time he is featuring a US hip hop artistes, I think it's a good initial effort to open the way for other projects. It would be better and better as he builds that collaborative side of his business.
NB: I will look forward to seeing that statue Sark said he promised Hood. Very explicit content, definitely not radio friendly.
