Joy FM’s DJ Black has debunked publications that he did not perform at this year’s Tigo Ghana Meets Naija musical concert because organizers did not contact him earlier.
In a statement, DJ Black who was the DJ in the past four editions noted that the story had “inaccuracies and misrepresentations”. He stated that organizers of the event,Empire Entertainment were in touch with him “far in advance of the event” but his “exam schedule and assignments during that period made it difficult to be available for rehearsals and also to report to the venue on time.”
Below is the full statement:
It has come to our notice that there is a story on a blog (http://bigtriceonline.blogspot.com), which seeks to state authoritatively the reasons, why DJ Black did not play at the last edition of Tigo Ghana Meets Naija (TGMN 2015). This story has since been picked up by peacefmonline.com and a few other websites.
We wish to state that the story has inaccuracies and misrepresentations. Yes, DJ Black granted an interview to Channel R. Yes he gave reasons why he was not able to play at the TGMN 2015. DJ Black’s exam schedule and assignments during that period made it difficult to be available for rehearsals and also to report to the venue on time. That was the reality of the situation.
We wish to state categorically that the organizers of TGMN 2015 were in touch with DJ Black and Toontoom far in advance of the event. There was nothing last minute about the notice to perform. This is the reason why DJ Black was the voice-over artiste for the event jingles. Toontoom was also represented at the event launch at Oak Plaza Hotel. Had it not been the nature of his exam schedule, he will surely have performed at the event. A look at DJ Black’s social media pages (as well as the pages of Toontoom and affiliate staff) will reveal that they all promoted the event on their pages.
Another inaccuracy in the story is that DJ Black is doing his masters at GIMPA. DJ Black is undertaking a masters program but not at GIMPA. It’s at GIJ.
Toontoom enjoys very cordial relations with Empire Entertainment. Negotiations with Empire were done in a professional manner way before the event. DJ Black is therefore not seeking to cast any aspersions or label Empire as unprofessional. Far from it. We wish to use this release to nip all misrepresentations in the bud.
Thank you.
